The nice postman
Well hello again! The nice
postman brought my transfer paper today. I must say I am impressed so far with
the results. For those who wish to venture into making their own decals search
EBay for “20 sheet cup decal A4
inkjet light water transfer paper” OK enough of the commercials. I printed my
master created in Microsoft Word on to a plain sheet to check the alignment and
size, then printed the same onto the transfer paper as instructed when the ink
dried 5 to 10 mins. a light coat of acrylic varnish to fix, as they say job
done.
The finished sheet

Crash and Burn
The winding gear cover support
block that ensures the cover moves in unison when the jib is raised succumbed
to an overdose of red paint and has to be remade. Its back to drilling .5mm holes.
Bumble Bee stripes take 3
Yet
once again a change of plan with the Bumble Bee stripes I have now decided that
the Dymo option is not up to the standard I want, so I have ordered some
waterslide clear transfer sheets off EBay, this morning I produced the master
template to enable my to print the transfers. I think I will start rigging the
jib and hoists over the weekend. Watch this space.

Bumble Bee stripes take 2
Once
again a change of plan Bumble Bee stripes have now been printed with my Dymo
Labelwriter 400 onto transparent labels and applied to the respective parts of
the crane its not perfect but with a little light weathering I think it will
pass muster. I
can see from the picture there is a little touching up around but I expected
that once again time has beaten me so its good night from me and goodnight from
him!

Bumble Bee Stripes
The
time is come to start to fine detail the model before I start on rigging, Bumble
Bee stripes have been added to the jib and jib runner toolbox. I had some fine
lining tape I think it was for marking out “white boards” so I used this to
create the distinctive warning stripes a neater job than masking and painting. I
have to wait for the jib support frames to dry red paint takes an age, still no
rush. That it for tonight time to spend some time with Linda.

“Railmatch” acrylic yellow paint
After
sorting out the wet floor under the washing machine and dishwasher I had to
donate my railway board to the kitchen to replace the wet MDF the machines
stood on. Oh well I wasn’t planning on using them just yet. Back the crane I started to spray the base coat of yellow I am still not happy “Railmatch”
acrylic yellow paint I thinned it to a milky consistency still will not spray
well it only seems to be the yellow I have
issues with may be when the snow goes I will
try another brand I’m not going out unless I have to. Anyway progress is being
made slowly on the crane front two steps forward and half back!

Well hello again!
Well hello
again! The single pulley hook is finished and the jib runner has its toolboxes.
Finally the 2.5mm socket head screws arrived so I have managed to finish the
winding drums as you can see the hex on the socked head is aligned up with a
hole in the side frame a small key can be used the tension the ropes thanks to CaptBeetroot for the tip on the Carp line its super fine
and very flexible. I have to do a little more work on the winding drums especially
the split hoist drum.
Ooops the drums are in the wrong location doh!

Little progress this week
Very little progress this week work has taken it out of me I just wanted to sit and chill when I got back home. I have made progress on the jib runner the support cradle has a pivoted base and the rear deck room for the load spreader dummy tool lockers between the wheels.
A little more work required on the jib insomuch as fitting the rope pulleys and plating in the underside of the jib end I have has second thoughts on using shirring elastic, I must think this one though, CaptBeetroot have you found he material you used for your ropes? Oh the hook block is now rotating correctly I have the single pulley one to make next. Sorry still issues with the pictures I will post the in retrospect.

Slice and diced
Slice and diced, that's the jib
runner lengthened and the jib support cradle started. A little filling
around the base is required. Looking at the photographs the load
spreader trucks need little done to it, that's a result.
