Not much progress over the last week or so I have finished the
light weathering of “Kelly”. I did however pick up six Hornby wagons on eBay for
£16, 4 of which have been fitted with metal spoke fine flanged wheel sets, one of which is the Hornby track cleaning coach.

Warship transplant day two
Today I’m in the process of fabricating the motor mounts now the
non powered bogie is in place. That was relatively easy to achieve a flat piece
of card one hole and a 5mm bore spacer. To powered end is more challenging.
That’s the hard bit out of the way now its adding strengthening webs.
Webs done it's DCC ready! And the body fits. Tidy.

Warship transplant
I have just made a start in modding my Mainline Warship “Kelly”
basically I’m junking the mainline bogies and replacing them with Hornby items
remove from the “Railroad” model I bought for £29 off eBay. I know these are
not perfect but they are a marked improvement over the “mainline” offerings

Rolling Road la deuxième partie
My metal sections arrived from Birmingham and I had them cut to size
+.5mm to allow for machining. Unfortunately the weather is not warm enough for
me to venture up to my workshop to machine the parts for assembly.
Just to give you an idea of where I am going with this I enlisted the help of “double sided tape”. The square section will have a 6 mm hole bored through so the eight assemblies can be mounted on two parallel arms four each side. Each side electrically isolated from each other.

Rolling Road
Yesterday I dismantled and salvaged 12 roller bearings from some
defective hard disk drives just the job for my proposed rolling road, each
bearing is 9.5mm in diameter and 6.5 mm wide and the centre is shoulders and threaded
2mm. a pair will be mounted on a section of aluminium angle, but more of that
later.

Letchworth Model railway exhibition.
Yesterday was the Letchworth model railway club exhibition; I was
a little disappointed with the content down on last year. Sellers were asking
silly money for stuff and some of it was rubbish. I did however get my JCB Mk3 and
a cooper craft tanker trailer. A power bogie for my warship was £34 come on get
real.
A quick check on EBay resulted in a Hornby R3068 class 42 “Formidable” £29.99 post free Tidy a
bargain. Now what to do with the Mainline version well today she was prepared for the repaint of the yellow front I think strip the gears and use her
for set dressing.
