Just a little interlude I thought I would play around making some light units.

A little more blue paint to mask the light bleed.

Here you are this is the first part of my layout 7' 6" x 12"

MPD la deuxième partie

It seems a shame to put the roof on, needs must and with all the rain recently I think I had better.

MPD

Time to find a home for my locos. OK call me old fashioned but I like the card kits.

Gas Bottles

Cut 18mm of 1/8”od tube for the oxygen and 14mm for the acetylene. Round off one end very slightly and drill a 2mm hole in top end just enough to support the  nose piece insert a short length of 2mm rod into the top.

Gauges are made from two pieces of 1.5mm rod fused together and a small slice trimmed off the end glued to the nose of the bottle.

A bit grubby

Just about there now all I need are some NEM coupling on order from Abbiegails and its job done.

Life’s a gas

No repair team can be without a gas axe, so a set of bottle were required. Next the gas axe and lines, hum that will be challenging considering the large bottle is 20mm tall.

Lines and gas axe added.

Awight Now

I had to have a wind pump (compressor) for the permanent way staff to drive their windy picks. A scour of flea bay came up with nuffing. A few bits of tube and some plastic card I came up with this. Fits in the wagon as if it was made for it!

Even more mutilation

Chassis replaced with on taken from a 12t van without running boards! Shortened to fit the body tool box fabricated and buffer beams added (yet to be trimmed)

More mutilation

A quick fill in project whilst I shelter from the inclement weather. One of the wagons I bought in a job lot a Hornby Yellow LWB 12 Ton Open Wagon will eventually emerge as an open wagon in my permanent way repair train.

Really naff

My long awaited early crest Q1 arrived today

My long awaited early crest Q1 arrived today, purchased with my retirement collection from work, each time she is on the roster I will remember the guys and girls at GSK thank you for your kind wishes on my retirement. The Q1 also brings back memories of my childhood living in Kent.

Enough of the sentiment... the model is exquisite superb detail and in mint unused condition all the bits in the box very very happy I will enjoy.
