Cab numbers not arrive yet so I decided to start reassembly. Window frame edging courtesy of Sharpie more to follow.

As I am waiting for a Hornby ‘railroad range’ donor for ‘Greyhound’ from Hatton’s I guess I can make some headway with ‘Onslaught’ company logo applied to both locos. Next refitting the handrails and applying cab numbers. 

The continuing tale of two Warships 2.

Today I tackled the roof panels masked and airbrushed med/dark grey. 

Then it was on to tackling the head codes, I used word to produce the following, example taken from photographs on the web. This was printed in Century Gothic at 9 points in bold in a black box measuring 1cmx2cm. The artwork is printed on photo paper on my trusty HP inkjet. Most importantly the finished result is sealed with matt acrylic clear sealer.

The continuing tale of two Warships.

With the two body shells primed and painted with Halfords Rover Damask Red and Ford Laurel Green; the front of D821 masked and painted yellow. 

The tricky part is fitting nano LED’s for the directional lighting these tiny LED’s prove challenging a spot of cyanoacrylate hits the spot job done.

I was never happy with the weathering I had to make a decision on how to progress. The opportunity of another cheap mainline example came my way. I decided to strip both and rebuild the new addition with a Hornby bogie and The maroon body shell will be out shopped as D821 'Greyhound' in BR Maroon with Small Yellow Warning Panels as preserved on the SVR. The blue body shell will be out shopped as D832 'Onslaught' in BR Green with Small Yellow Warning Panels as preserved by the ELR Preservation Society.

A slight change of plan D821 'Greyhound' in BR Maroon with full end Yellow Warning Panels circa 2014, D832 'Onslaught' in BR Green with no Yellow Warning Panels circa 1998, masking Small Yellow Warning Panels was impossible for my modelling skills. 

Drummond 700 “Black motor”

The latest arrival on Pix Valley is a Drummond 700 “Black motor” 30698. A superb model but with a couple of quirks, both the couplings fall off the chassis the triangular moulding on the NEM housing is to narrow and the other issue is fitting a DCC chip into the tender there is not enough room with the three weights . Anybody had the same issues? I opted for the recommended small 8pin chip from Hattons.

Major engineering works

It has been a little quite of lately on Pix Valley. But with the arrival of Gresley A4 pacific "Gadwall" for the summer excursions it became apparent that the passing loop was to short. In consultation with the permanent way department a plan was formulated. This consists of a 6 inch extension to the loop. In order to facilitate this 16 feet of track had to be removed and a 6 inch plug inserted. Before the whole section could be reunited.
