Uber Wheel Cleaner

 The issue with cleaning rolling stock wheels is having to rotate the wheel to remove the dirt. Enter the Uber Wheel Cleaner.. Ta da. an old horn be power bogie was the basis for this devise, I removed the wheels from both axels and replaced two wheels with traction tyre groves revered flanges outwards onto one axle. a suitable 'O' ring is fitted on each wheel. 


A cradle to house the motor and two tubes set an approx. 45  degrees to hold the spring loaded brass brushes the type sold for those propelling pens type holders. 

 
the motor is connoted to flying leads to connect to a suitable controller.

Delivery of the support coach for “Tornado”

 Arriving at Rushmoor depot a Mk1 Brake 2nd Class Coach BSK recently fitted with new “commonwealth” bogies and new wheel sets. Michael Portillo is waiting on Rushmoor platform to interview the “fat controller” 


Unfortunately Tornado’s tender bogie derailed reversing into the station delaying the interview. However the derailment was soon fixed.

Continuation of the rebuild of “Pacer Set” new year update

 

02/01/2022 moving on all wiring soldered to DCC socket, tested with a trusty 9 volt battery. I’m happy it’s working within expected parameters. Next stage painting interior populating passengers the on to the second car!

Continuation of the rebuild of “Pacer Set” from Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive

 24/12/2021 Motor resembled into drive train and motor and pickup wires soldered to chassis.


25/12/2021 0.5mm pilot holes drilled in light mouldings and divider piece added to stop light bleed. Pilot holes opened to 1mm and top of light box covered. The chassis was test fitted into the body.



27/12/2021 resistors soldered to DCC socket and insulated with colour coded heat shrink micro LED’s threaded into light cluster aperture.

Rebuild of “Pacer Set” from Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive

Today 22/12/2021 the decoder socket boards eventually arrived. Square bearers to support the decoder socket board were cut from 4.8mm square evergreen strip. Drilled in the centre for small a self tapping screw. 


Decoder socket board screwed in place and the whole assembly glued to the interior moulding.

Delivery of a “Pacer Set” from Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive

Pix Valley is expecting a delivery of a “Pacer Set” 55554 and 55604 from Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive in the next few days. Unfortunately Storm Barra has delayed the departure of the convoy. More news when the set arrives at Pix valley. Eventually today 10/12/2021 55554 and 5560 arrived at Pix Valley, they will need stripped cleaned and tested before entering service. 



Overhaul commenced today 11/12/2021 stripped and measured for a decoder socket board
